About
Welcome to Bistro Mornar, an enchanting culinary gem nestled in the heart of Rijeka, Croatia, along the picturesque Ul. Riva Boduli. Known for its delectable seafood offerings and warm ambiance, this inviting bistro has quickly become a favorite among locals and tourists alike. With its enchanting views of the marina, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy an unforgettable meal while soaking in the vibrant atmosphere of this charming fishing village.
Upon entering Bistro Mornar, the friendly and attentive staff immediately make you feel at home. As one satisfied customer, Daniel Kakuska, noted, “The dishes were very delicious and the waiter extremely friendly and polite.” It’s clear that the commitment to providing exceptional service is matched only by the attention to detail in their culinary creations.
The menu is a treasure trove of flavor, with warm starters that are particularly noteworthy. Diners rave about the squid ink dish, which not only satisfies your appetite but also tantalizes your taste buds. The calamari, highlighted by Celest Tang as the “star dish” of her visit, comes served on a generous plate alongside warm, crispy fries, creating a comforting yet elevated dining experience.
Those seeking a taste of the sea should not miss the fish soup. Praised for its fresh ingredients and clear broth—making it filling without overwhelming fishiness—it’s a delightful way to start your meal. As Niculin Flucher wisely suggests, arriving famished is key to fully appreciating the savory offerings, ensuring you leave no stone—or dish—unturned.
Diners also commend the exquisite pesto pasta and the delightful tiramisu, leaving a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to sample them. The pasta boasts a unique taste, with fresh tomatoes complementing its texture, while the tiramisu is described as creamy with a flavorful base, making it a fittingly sweet end to an excellent meal.
Although Bistro Mornar tends to get busy—particularly during warm summer evenings—its vibrant energy adds to the dining experience. Reservations are highly recommended to ensure a spot at this bustling eatery where the flavors of the sea come alive. Whether you’re enjoying a quiet dinner for two or a lively gathering with friends, the delightful culinary offerings at Bistro Mornar are sure to leave you with cherished memories.

“ The service is exceptional, the waiters are very kind and pleasant. The mussels are to absolutely die for. Also had the best coffee I ever had from this restaurant. I will come back ”
“ Warm starters will satiate you. No seccondo required. But we would reccomend to arrive famished to accomodate one because the food was very good. Squid ink will stain your tongue ”
“ Dishes were very delicious and the waiter extreme friendly and polite. Compared to other restaurants in other cities a really good price for good quality of the seafood. ”
“ Perfect home feel restaurant near sea with long tradition and always fresh fish ”
“ My local guide recommended this place !!! I loved all the dishes I tried here (the fish soup, calamari, pesto, mussels and fish soup). I didn't take a pic of the fish soup but it was really fresh and taste super delicious The food came out really quick too ”
“ Very central location at the Marina. Food here is very delicious. I loved the fish and stuffed calamari dish. The restaurant can be a bit loud at the outside seating area and if it is a hot summer evening but they make it up for that with food. It is a little more expensive than other places nearby around. But overall it was good. Reservation ahead is highly recommended. ”
“ Great place with food worth the price and has a really nice fisherman village atmosphere. We had a reservation, so we didn't have to wait, but it was particularly crowded in here, so we recommend coming early or reserving a seat. Highly recommend the tiramisu. It was creamy and had a smooth sift base and lots of flavor. It would have been better with a stronger chocolate flavour but it was good for the price. The pesto pasta was delicious, it had a unique taste, fresh tomato's and the pasta wasn't dry, tough or hard, but rather just nice The fish soup was definitely a must try as it had the fresh taste of the fish and the soup was relatively clear without a fishy smell. It had bits or rice and for a soup, it was very filling. The calamari was recommend to us by the waiter and it was served on a huge plate with fries that are warm soft and crispy. This was the star dish for our lunch and it cannot be passed. ”
